MetaCalendars v2.2 about 80% done

August 31st, 2008

We got the new code running on the webserver today.  We are running a bit behind but we should be releasing version 2.2 within a week or 2.  Currently we do not have a system in place to purchase the premium versions of MetaCalendars but we will release the free edition to the public with the release of version 2.2.  We should also have support forums up by then as well.

2.2.0 is about 40% done

August 3rd, 2008

Work on 2.2.0 has continued.  Lots of work on the event class and PHPDoc’ing most of the classes was done today.  We are still on track to release 2.2.0 at the end of August.

2.1.4 Released

Version 2.1.4 of MetaCalenadars has been released.  This release fixes some minor bugs and adds a search form to the search page so you do not have to add one manually to the template.

Work on version 2.2.0 has started.  2.2.0 will be the first release available for public download and purchase.  The target date for this release is the end of August.

Upgrade Process Simplified

July 18th, 2008

I have been working on upgrading the current installs of the various calendars to version 2.1.3 and the process is super simple, and will only get easier.  All that is required is to upload the new files and make the proper database changes.  I will be writing a script to take care of the database changes for you, so upgrades in the future should take under 10 minutes.

MetaCalendars Getting Ready for Public Download

July 2nd, 2008

MetaCalendars is currently getting ready to be released as a public download.  Currently there will be 3 pricing tiers, the lowest of which will be free.  The free version of MetaCalendars will be a simplified version containing only the basic calendar.  The other 2 tiers will add features and will come at cost.  There will also be an installation service available for those that aren’t PHP/MySQL savvy.  Our goal is to make this calendar feature rich and dead simple for anyone to install and manage.

We have also outlined the roadmap for the next few versions of MetaCalendars.  The next major revision will make remote calendars easier to set up and manage.  The version after that will concentrate on adding many new features for the end user, to make their calendar experience as awesome as possible.

2.1.3 Released

July 1st, 2008

2.1.3 is released.  It includes many updates such as working redirect and error pages as well as an installer script for easy installation.  The major feature for the 2.1.4 release will be an upgrade script that will be used to upgrade MetaCalendars from version 2.1.3 onward.

Installer is almost done

June 30th, 2008

The installer for MetaCalendars is working and after adding some additional error checking it should be ready for release.  All the settings (and the major colors) have been moved to the database and can  be easily updated from the Control Panel.  Tomorrow I will be finishing the installer and working on the upgrade script.  After the upgrade script is written we will be upgrading all installations of MetaCalendars to version 2.1.3.

Work on Version 2.1.3 Coming Along Nicely

June 27th, 2008

MetaCalendars v2.1.3 is progressing very rapidly.  The major change with this release is moving a majority of the configuration options into the database.  This will allow us to modify those settings much more easily through the admin interface.  Also, this feature will allow us to add more configuration options very easily without having to rewrite the config file.  From 2.1.3 onward, the config file will remain generally untouched so that from version to version you don’t have to manually edit the config file each time.
